810 Blogging Lab
A traditional web page contains information that may be read and viewed by others, without offering any form of communication. Both traditional web pages and blogs can be searched for online using various keywords, and provide valuable information. Only a blog can be commented on by readers, is updated continuously, and promotes communication. Commenting is vital to making both parties feel that their opinions are valued. Blogs offer a safe place for others to share their ideas and opinions. A blog may also be updated, whereas a traditional web page posts information for a single piece of information. I would like to use blogging as much as possible in my own classroom; however, I find it to be somewhat difficult with first grade students who are just learning to type. I have considered creating my own classroom blog that my students could comment on with the help of a parent or trusted adult; however, I know not all of my students have computers available to them. I am looking forward to learning more about blogging and how to bring it into my classroom, regardless of the age and current abilities of my students.
